So how are you making it up?

One of the more interesting pieces of scientific study is the Women’s Health Initiative Study. In its most recent incarnation, after some 11-12 years of study, it now shows that estrogen-progestin therapy is associated with diagnosis of cancer of the breast not only well behaved and well differentiated tumors but also poor outcomes. This is different from other data previously shown by previous observational studies. It would seem to be confounding. On the surface it would appear that previous cause and effect is not what we thought, but is something else altogether. This is all very interesting, as there are many ways to interpret this information.

The way in which this will be interpreted by the medical scientific community is that we did not understand it previously, as well as we thought, and now we understand it better. They will say that, the better that we understand it, there is now a definite association with breast cancer as far as the intake of estrogen and progesterone is concerned. This was previously thought to be only related to the estrogen receptor dependent breast cancer tumors. In fact previous studies have shown no link between estrogen and breast cancers.

Despite the lack of evidence showing any relationship between breast cancer and estrogen, nevertheless women have become scared about a relationship. Additionally, evidence was that in the subset of women who developed breast cancer it was related to previously existing tumor, as at five years, when that arm of the study was discontinued, it was too short a time for development of a palpable tumor from scratch. Despite this, most gynecologists in response to their patients behaved as if it was caused by the estrogen-progesterone combination, rather than it being a situation where tumor growth was enhanced. This, latter was in agreement with early birth control pill data from over forty to fifty years ago.

What this has shown is that, indeed there was a change from observational studies previously. The key here is observation, as this is the basis of reality according to quantum mechanics. Here based on the continued beliefs of women and their physicians, despite evidence to the contrary, the reality shifted and what they believed became the new observation. We have shifted what we were observing creating a new different reality. The new reality is that estrogen-progesterone can cause cancer and poor outcomes rather than just affect estrogen dependent tumors.

We have successfully made a new reality. It is not really one that we might have chosen but, nevertheless, because of our beliefs and fears and the way we have applied them we have changed our reality. This is a demonstration of how to change reality. It is not simply the change in beliefs, but it is the emotion of the fear for this large group of women, which has provided the catalyst for this change.

Undoubtedly, our medical establishment which still is based in a Newtonian reality will see this as hitherto undiscovered truth, giving no actual weight to the fact that reality is entirely moldable.

One simply has to think of the study done at Baylor Medical School by the orthopedist who demonstrated a significant placebo effect in patients who thought they had surgery but actually did not. This is further confirmation that we are making it up and therefore should be careful and deliberate in how we make things up. Of course, this latter cannot take place until we all become aware of how it is that we actually do make it up. It is our beliefs and emotions that allow us to tap into the mechanism to make it up. If our fears are attached to our strongest emotions they function as a way to effectively create our reality, often not the one we desire. If we have no strong emotional input into a desired outcome, if we accept other’s assessments of our potential reality, then we allow the collective beliefs to shape that reality. Whatever we do or do not, we are creating a reality. Which one do you desire to create? How do you want to make it up?
