Informing Results

The nature of things is that truly ‘no man is an island’. Because we are a system of energy, we are always in contact with everything else. Not only are we in contact with everything else, but, everything else is in contact with us and we affect things as much as they affect us. It may not be easy to see, but this is actually so, and measurably so. Now, each of us is familiar with graphs, even if only in awareness. Graphs allow us to look at relationships between two categories, to which we refer as variables, where one is allowed to change with respect to the other, which is changed initially. This allows one variable to be dependent than the other, so that there is a one way effect, in essence. Effects are allowed to proceed in one direction, and none are allowed in the reverse. So, you could use a graph to study your effect on a football field, but not its effect on you. This works very well because the football has very little measurable effect on you. Predictions can then be made by studying the patterns.

However, when these variable both depend on each other, such tidy arrangements are not possible on a graph. The pattern of relationship appears to be chaotic. When examined further, under the apparent chaotic pattern of relationship there emerge underlying fractal patterns. This documents the complex relationship when dependence is bi-directional as patterns soon move toward infinity or some lower fixed quantity depending on the ratio between the variables.

It is our relationship with even the subatomic particles that is interesting. Because of this connection, Quantum Mechanics has documented a number of discernible and measurable effects ranging from the ability to change the sequence of random events such as the order of playing cards to the change of diffraction patterns in light experiments. It is clear from this that consciousness is able to create an effect. Physicists usually look at the pattern of subatomic particles that create an object as bits of information. It would appear that in this perspective that consciousness is able to inform the pattern as to how to modify itself in order to change the energetic arrangement in the system. Because of the two way relationship, these particles also affect the consciousness as well. They are able to provide feedback in experience.

Now what does this have to do with anything in our everyday world? This information feedback loop allows us to determine our experience. If we look at positivity versus negativity, we can see how seeing things in a positive light and attaching positive emotions informs the subatomic particles to line up and create that positive image that we visualize. If we fear and think negatively we generate results even more easily. If fact, all of this is borne out by research in positive psychology.

The feedback allows you to access information at the level of consciousness about how you are affecting the energetic system. This informs your body how to behave. This creates your health. So, if you choose to go into your awareness as you choose a symptom, you will become aware of the information as this is the level at which information exchange takes place with the quantum levels. This is the essence of a meditation.

The ‘real work,’ as Gary Snyder says, is changing, inter-acting, simply being at that subatomic level of consciousness, intimately aware through breath, focus and ‘tapped in’ vision, hearing, sense of smell. These processes are a familiar, necessary art form to our plant & animal brothers and sisters of the wild. And one not lost (or terribly foreign) to the majority of human beings until the agricultural revolution a few millenia ago or, to an even greater degree, the industrial revolution of a couple hundred years back in chronological time.
